My name is Gerard Roelof Verkaaik.

I was born in Holland in 1948, emigrated to N.Z. in 1952.
Grew up as a kiwi kid, married a Kiwi girl, raised 2 kiwi kids and now have four grand-kiwi kids.
Spent my working life as a Medical Scientist and am now in the “third age” releasing a long-dormant family art gene by way of sculpture.

While on a sculpture course run through NMIT under Lydia Geldof in 2003, she challenged me with the question “Why are you not an artist?”
I have been answering that ever since.


​I was a member of 'Artists Of Marlborough'
for 20 years and have been represented in a number of Galleries,as well as several regional ART SHOWS in Christchurch and Nelson.

Time has moved on and I now reside in Christchurch in retirement,scaling down my art activities.
